The Borrowed Ring on Pencil
Mark Leveridge
This is number 9 in Marks 'Master Routines Series' and it is actually a very nice, commercial routine using nothing more than a borrowed ring, a pencil and a handkerchief. No gimmicks or awkward moves are required to present an entertaining routine in which a ring appears to jump onto a pencil in ever more impossible conditions.
As no special apparatus is required, the trick is essentially a set of well written and illustrated instructions that take you step by step through the entire routine. The effect does require a little handling but it not out of reach of anyone willing to put in a half an hour of (highly rewarding) practise. After just a few run-throughs with the required items in hand I felt ready to display this new effect to a friend. She gave this routine a big thumbs up and was completely fooled. A little more rehearsal on my part and this trick has become part of my regular close-up 'set'.
If you are looking for an unusual, impromptu close-up effect either for table hopping, or just after-dinner entertaining, then this comes highly recommended.
